Slash Gear has recently reported on new information about one of the rumoured features of the phone’s camera. The website has reported that sources have claimed that the camera of the Apple iPhone 5S will see the addition of a high quality slow motion video capture feature.
The feature, which is codenamed ‘Mogul’ will allow video footage to be captured in 30 frames per second, in 720p resolution. A similar feature is utilised by the Samsung Galaxy S4, but the website reports that many people have found that the quality of the results were not as high as expected. Apparently, specific details about the ‘Mogul’ feature have appeared on developer APIs, revealing that the function will allow footage to be captured in 720p, and come with a full suite of editing functions, enhanced audio processing support for slow and fast playback and the preservation of frame rates when footage is exported to other devices.
Of course, the camera feature is an area where smartphone models face fierce competition. These days, there seems to be less emphasis on providing the highest megapixel counts, with more effort going into providing cameras with innovative new features and enhanced functionality. If rumours of a 13 megapixel camera and dual led flash for the iPhone 5S turn out to be true, it will certainly mean that the device will offer one of the best smartphone cameras on the market.
