The Apple iPhone 5 has remained a permanent fixture in the bestsellers charts since it hit the market back in September 2012. Apple’s latest best selling smartphone model remains one of the most sought after devices on the market, so this has of course led to plenty of speculation about its follow up device. In recent months, there has been widespread speculation about the potential released date and features of the iPhone 5S, with leaked information regarding its specifications and a number of leaked images hitting the internet.
Of course, Apple has not yet officially announced the iPhone 5S, but a number of industry analysts have recently offered their opinions about when the handset is likely to hit the market. Recently, GSM Arena reported that Peter Misek, an analyst at Jefferies has reported that the iPhone 5S is likely to enter production by the end of July. He further claims that Apple will officially announce the handset in the late September or early October.
It was recently reported that Foxconn, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners in Asia has been on a large scale recruitment drive. With the expansion of its workforce, this would certainly suggest that Apple is gearing up to begin production of the iPhone 5S in the near future. It also packs up Misek’s recent claims that another rumoured iPhone model, the iPhone Light (a budget iPhone model) may already have entered production. Obviously, we will not know the full details regarding the specifications of the iPhone 5S until it is officially announced. However, recent speculation has suggested that the device will sport many upgrades over the current iPhone 5 model, such as an improved camera resolution and more processing power. The phone will of course also include the recently announced iOS 7 software update, and potentially a fingerprint scanner and LTE-A connectivity.
