The new iPhone 5S may not be the only new mobile product that we see arrive from Apple later on this year. For months we have heard various rumours surrounding a new wrist watch capable of linking with the phone and other iOS devices and now more news has surfaced that suggests production of the watch is more advanced than many of us had expected.
New reports have surfaced regarding the new iWatch that is being developed by Apple. These reports are suggesting that prototypes of the watch have now been produced and are being tested ahead of the start of mass production of the exciting new product. The source of these latest reports is the Economic Times, a publication from Taiwan. They state that Apple have sent 1000 of these new products to their manufacturing partner Foxconn which is presumably allow the company to prepare their plants for production of this device. If a production run is to begin soon there is a strong possibility that the watch could be launched alongside the iPhone 5S. The new iWatch will feature a 1.5 inch OLED display and will have the capability of conducting calls. Apple are also said to be working closely with Intel to develop the Bluetooth technology on the device that will enable it to connect easily to other iOS products.
Apple are not the only manufacturer who are reportedly working on a new watch device but it looks as though they seem to have made the most progress with their product and it is likely to hit the market before any similar products. The general consensus is that the iWatch will arrive this year, possibly along with the iPhone 5S although some insiders state that it is unlikely to arrive before 2014. Google are currently testing their latest Google Glass technology and it is rumoured that it will feature on a similar Android wrist watch while Microsoft are also hard at work developing similar technology of their own. It does not look as though either of these manufacturers will get their product to market before 2014 meaning that if Apple can get the iWatch launched this year then they will steal an early march on the competition.
The new iWatch has been rumoured for some time but it now looks as though the product is being tested prior to a mass production run. This means that we could see the device arrive later this year along with the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S is coming soon and the iPhone 5 is available now.
