Later on in the summer we are expecting to see Apple release several new products. Included in these are the new iPhone 5S and the exciting new iOS7 operating system which was unveiled recently. It is evident already that this new version of the company’s operating system is set to a bigger success than all previous versions that have gone before it.
There have been no dates confirmed yet for iOS7 to go on general release but the platform is currently available in its Beta form for developers. The purpose of this is to enable developers to produce software that works alongside the service. New figures have been released by Oneswipe which show the number of downloads the this new Beta version has attracted in just a few short weeks. Already it accounts for 0.46 of all compatible handset. In terms of percentages this is a very small number but when we consider that over half a billion devices have access to the software this amounts to quite a considerable number. When compared to the Beta launch of iOS6 in 2012 the figures are far better. The older version attracted just 0.25 per cent of all devices in the same three week period since its launch.
The Beta version of iOS6 is more widely accessible than ever before and this may have contributed to the very high adoption rates for the pre release version of the platform. At the moment Apple release the software to anybody who is registered with them as a developer. This process is relatively straightforward and anybody can register for just £99. This give access to all Beta versions of any new software even if you never intend on developing any software for the platform. Another reason behind the early demand for iOS is its dramatic new look which is designed by Sir Jony Ive. The new package is described as the biggest overhaul that iOS has ever seen and will feature a wide array of brand new features. We expect to see the software go on general release at around the same time as the iPhone 5S later in the year.
iOS7 is shaping up to be a hugely popular introduction from Apple and together with new devices such as the iPhone 5S should ensure that the American manufacturers enjoy a very prosperous second half of the year . The iPhone 6 is also tipped to arrive in 2014.
